Caption: Jigsaw Puzzle Switching. Playing with traffic on Broadway Avenue, the Orangeville-Brampton Railway's sole 50-year old GP9 (CCGX 1000) works the industries at the north end of Orangeville, after making the interchange run to Streetsville and back. The north end switching is a bit of a game in itself, and can interfere with traffic multiple times while the train constantly shuffles cars around...
See if you can follow along:
Today, they left Orangeville Yard with three cars (2 tanks and one hopper) for the two north end customers. Switching Symplastics and PolyOne, the former of spots its cars directly on the industrial spur, and requires moving their cars first to service the latter. The first three hoppers here were Symplastics cars that had to be moved in order to access PolyOne further in. The 4th hopper at the back (the one they left with) will then be spotted at PolyOne. The train will then lift the two outbound tanks from PolyOne and set them off back on the main, along with one of Symplastic's hoppers. Then they'll spot these inbound PolyOne tanks, respot the remaining Symplastic cars on the spur, lock the switch and head back down the main to the yard to tie down, with a Symplastics hopper and two PolyOne tanks.
