It's not very often that I pray for overcast lighting, however I'd greatly prefer that over a backlit shot, especially considering the fact that its rare opportunity to catch a freight on the Grimsby Sub that isn't backlit or too dark. In this scenario, it helped that a Blue Devil was in the lead, which fits the scene well, and to top it off is BCOL 4608 trailing as it grinds through the control point at Jordan. 331 had just cleared a 25mph restriction between Mile 14 and 15 due to Monday's washout, however it was back at 45mph by the time it hit Jordan with 8400 horses and only 42 cars in tow.

  1. I feel as this combination of units has become a thing for 330/331. Not that that’s a bad thing, it actually looks awesome together. Great shot!

  2. Thanks! 330/331 has always lured any type of Dash 8, however I still think this combination is quite rare, and I haven’t seen a Blue Devil leader in four years.

  3. August 30th 2013 this same combo ran on 330/331…if you’re gonna catch an unusual lashup it’d be on 330/1!
