Caption: It's not everyday you find a former CPR tongue and groove wooden caboose on friction bearing trucks at the head end of a train, but today ours was on the move on the Guelph Junction Railway. Guelph Historical Railway Association 436994, rebuilt with steel frame in 1941, has 22 cars on the drawbar, a number of them loads, as it is shuffled around for our tours this weekend as part Doors Open Guelph. It is absolutely dwarfed by the modern equipment bracketing it. Doors Open Guelph will be taking place this Saturday, April 29, from 10am - 4pm. Our caboose, and a GEXR locomotive will be on display in downtown Guelph, right near CNR 6167 (seen here).
