It's a cold New Years Eve Morning, and the Amtrak Maple Leaf runs the route back from Toronto for the last time in 2013. It's heading state side to eventually end up in New York City. This is also the first shot taken with my new Nikon7000.

  1. Martin, are those your footprints we see in the snow? Imagine, 40 years earlier, those could have been my footprints. I crossed the tracks just that same side of Glendale, when heading to Merritton High School.

  2. Yup, that was me looking for a good spot to shoot.

  3. Not quite 40 years before this shot, I was crossing Glendale – just beyond the tracks the train here is on – and had a wish-I-had-a-camera moment. It was a summer’s evening, and – while heading to the tennis courts in Merritton – looked toward’s the train station, and the Merritt Street overpass, and saw a gorgeous sight. The sun was setting, with a beautiful red sky, and overpass was in shadows, as was the approaching train just about to reach and pass under the bridge. That would have been a terrific shot.
