It's 9:59pm on a Monday night, the platforms are deserted, and H5 5791 sits on the front of her train having completed the run from Downsview. Finch Subway Station is the northernmost part of the subway system, and the end of the line for people travelling further than Finch Ave. All northbound passengers have gotten off to head above ground, and it's only a few minutes before departing back downtown again, a trip 5791 has made almost daily for the last 33 years. A little over 4 years later, on June 14th 2013, 5791 would be part of the train making the final H5 trip ever in Toronto, as more and more new Toronto Rocket subway trains pushed the fleet of mid-70's H5 cars into retirement. Most of the initial retirees were scrapped, but the final survivors such as 5791 are being trucked into New York for refurbishing and a new life on the future Lagos light rail line in Nigeria.
