It wasn't the shot I originally had in mind, but Nashville turned out to be a wash due to the track angle. I was also considering Palgrave like a number of others but I knew the hike and climb to the spot I wanted would be too much for my two young boys. I could have gone it alone, but the excitement on the faces of my two young rail fans when I told them about the special "150" train meant more to me then the shot I really wanted. Here we are at Kirby Road crossing just south of Bolton as the quartet of vintage "F" units thunder past at full throttle. The photo certainly does not do the sound justice.

  1. It’s great you brought your boys. You know very well they won’t regret having seen it. Nicely done too on the sun choices – not too many sunny shots at that time of day for perfect nose light..
