Caption: It was a Saturday morning when a few former QNSL locomotives were going to be taken to a destination in Chicago for future considerations, and the fans were out in groves. I waited at Tansley, then Bayview, then Dundas, and finally one last shot out at Lynden West before I thought I had seen enough of this train. A true foamer!! Behind #399's CN 2504, 5353 are x-QNSL 259, 306, 305, 304, 261, 308 and 303. In 2006 the QNSL sold them as surplus to Marine Diesel Engines, Ltd; a dealer. After being stored for a bit in Mont Joli, Quebec, they in turn were dealt off to JLCX (J&L Consulting) a leasing outfit; and then finally off to the USA, as we see here, where they were scrapped in 2007.

Didn’t most of these actually get saved? Or was it another batch of ex QNSL’s that ended up on G&W roads? I know I saw an ex QNSL SD40-2 with WCOR reporting marks down in Dubois PA a few years ago.
Jazzy Joe: I was under the impression that most, if not all, of these particular locomotives met the scrapper; the amount of TLC needed was why they spent so much time stored. But, alas, I have misplaced my notes. There must have been close to 30 SDs on QNSL, so I am sure there would be plenty of them still operational.

I thought that too, Snake. Good thing it wasn’t the same day. YOUR train would have wiped out my angle here. They would have been side by side like a couple of…well…snakes!!
