It is hard to believe for those who pass by CN's Walkley yard in Ottawa, but it was once a bustling place filled with former CP MLW's. On a brisk October morning in 2001 a pair of ex CP MLW's are busy switching in the yard. The 1846 last worked for the Quebec Gatineau RR until the railroad retired all of its MLW's, while 4204 was the OC's only C424. Today the yard is a much quieter place since CN took it back and usually one GP38 is enough power for all local switching.
