It is an ALCO! At a time when the major roads had divested ALCO power, the Quebec roads remained strong ALCO advocates – perhaps a tribute to the ALCO design pulling power. Roberval & Saguenay Railway Company #41 is a C as in Century 420 and former LIRR unit. My Trackside Guide indicates #41 was sold to Benoit Girard Metal Inc. in 2000 and then resold 11/2000 to the Central New York Locomotive Co., Jamesville N.Y. Anyone know if this unit still exists? In the rain on June 1981 at the aluminum capital: Arvida, P.Q. Kodachrome by S.Danko.

  1. IIRC, Ed Bowers currently owns it, lettered VLIX 41 and stored on the Delaware-Lackawana I believe.

  2. I like your shot and have many fond memories of the R&S in the Alco/MLW era. But your photo was taken at Port Alfred and not Arvida.
