In Valentine's Day 1998 the former CN yard in Hamilton certainly had a different look to it. Railink was the new kid in town with an interesting mix of motive power. The 1200 was an older former CN SW1200, while 1366 was being bored from CN until enough power was on hand to properly run Hamilton operations. The 2000 was a former Maine Central GP38 that made it to the New Hampshire & Vermont Railroad, sadly that interesting shortline was forced to shut down and Railing picked up the unit. In later years 2000 would move out west to one of Railink's western operations, while out there it would receive full Railink paint and later return to Hamilton. It has since received full G&W colours and still calls Southern Ontario home. Today CN has taken back all Hamilton operations from G&W.

  1. I wonder if rlhh ever used the station tracks.
.. I parked here summer of 97 and 98 for my summer jobs downtown and saw the switchers switching but didn’t know enough to realize rlhh had taken over.

  2. Back then I only saw maintenance equipment on the old station track. Funny it was all ripped out to only be reinstalled years later, if course the set up is a bit different. I sure do miss Railinks variety and paint scheme.

  3. I never saw units parked there either.

That’s neat where RLK 2000 had it’s bell too.
