NW 3725 is now at the Monticello Railway Museum in Monticello, IL as WAB 1189 (as delivered) Oh, and that’s quite the lineup you have there
No kiddin’??? The 3725 saved? Thanks for this, James. I thought for sure it would have been jumped by the scrapper. I remember it heading Stateside for good a number of years ago.
I worked in the Fort Erie diesel shop in 1971,those NW F7s were so beat up,there were 5 in the yard that we used to fix the working ones.
Pierre: Interesting that you worked there. So I’m wondering if you have seen the shop in the last 10 years. Hollowed out old shell, windows smashed by vandals; most track gone and nary a locomotive to be seen; EXCEPT inside. The ‘boys’ have a fledgling Railroad Museum under way at the old shop building now, but just the undertaking of dealing with all those broken windows up top is as much of a challenge as anyone would want to face. By 1976 or so I can only remember 3 of the N&W relics at the yard. The others must have already been shipped out.
You got some great stuff over in Fort Erie back then Arnold. That’s a “Two Thumbs Up” shot.
Thanks, Mr. Photog: Yes, I wish back then how lucky I had been to see what I did. The Niagara area was a gold-mine of “goodies” almost every time I went out, which was not near enough. I only met one other ‘buff on a regular basis. Not enough action, I guess.
