In response to Arnold's image of Souris I present this quaint scene. Seen trundling through the countryside of PEI, CN RSC-14 1757 leads van 79892 eastbound crossing the Brudenell River just a few miles from it's destination of Montague with cylindrical hoppers in tow.  The 1980 timetable lists no scheduled trains over the line so I am marking this as Extra 1757.  About two and a half years remain for rails on the island, as the last train will depart by ferry on December 28, 1989, led by RSC-14s 1750, 1786.  Most of the line has since become part of the Confederation Trail.CN 1757, built by MLW as RS18 3852 in 1960, would be rebuilt and renumbered in 1975 to 1757 as an RSC-14 with A-1-A trucks and the horsepower reduced from 1800 to 1400.  It was sold off to the Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia Railway in 1994 as their 3852, named J. S. D. Thompson (John Sparrow David Thompson; 4th Prime Minister of Canada; 1892 - 1894), and was retrucked with standard B-B trucks from RS18 CN 3615.  3852 would be scrapped in 1998.G. W.
