In order to catch the morning lineup before the activity of the weekday begins, it was imperative to take advantage of the early summer sunrise. In this case, I was on the scene by 0515 after getting on the road around 0400 on my day off; and seeing these GO  APCUs all in a row like they expected me was certainly worth the effort.
We have GO 904 (x-ONR 1513)which was sold to Tri-Rail of Miami in 1991; then 910 and 911, formerly MILW 93A and 104A respectively, then 906 and 907, (both x-ONR) which along with the 910 and 911 were retired and scrapped in 1995.
This GO facility has since been relocated in Milton.

Interestingly enough, Arnold – the entire GO yard actually sits on the Guelph Junction Railway (Not CP!) – CP leased it at this point of course, but once the lease expired, this land reverted back to GJRY and GO gave up interest in the track and materials when they vacated the land – which is why OSR uses it today.

  3. Thanks, Mr. H.T.Grep: Of course that makes sense…….it is just that I remembered that area as the location of an old freight shed-type building and a water tower (which I always associated with the CP) when I first went up to the junction for photos back in 1974.

  4. Interesting.. now all we need are Steam shots from the late 50′s to show how the water tower and freight sheds were used ;)

  7. 5 trains to leave in sequence and sit all day in Toronto and return in the evening. 1990? That’s nearly 25 years ago; time flies!

  10. Thanks, Marcus. I often look back and wonder why I didn’t go up there more often at this hour of the morning. But we both know why. Had work, tried to have a “life”, or was just too darn tired. Work got in the way of everything.

  11. Interesting to note that at this time, the “cab car” was on the east end & locomotive on the west end.
    Now the usual operation on all of GO’s network is to have the locomotives facing east & cab cars facing west.

  12. Hi Ronald, the diesels were on the east end for these as well These are all unpowered F-units converted to cab cars.

  13. Actually the power is on the west end. These former A unit APCUs are facing east in this photo.

  14. There was a swapping of locomotive ends once or twice in the past, IIRC due to noise complains from Mimico residents having the idling locos too close to their houses.
