In 2006 I found myself in James Adney's former stomping grounds - a popular railfan spot is located on Railway St. where you get a clear shot and signals in both directions (as long as the SOR/CN interchange is not plugged full of cars blocking your view).

In this scene, NS 327 is curving around onto the original Great Western Railway alignment at Paris, Ontario with a very long train of about 60 cars - auto parts for Talbotville and grain for St. Thomas and Eastern.

The original alignment for the GWR curved slightly to the left and ran essentially straight through bypassing Brantford. Remnant yard tracks in Paris are all that remains of the original alignment still in service - about a mile or two of abandoned track is also still in the ground with trees growing through it leading to the west bank of the Grand River. The rest of the northern alignment was abandoned in 1930 in favour of the GTR built Brantford bypass which was constructed about 1900.

Talbotville was shut down the week prior and this was the first train after a week off, resulting in the extra traffic.
