I'm sure most of the railfan wanderers are familiar with this station. It really has not changed all that much in the 45 years since I shot this photo. But it has not been used by CN in many years.
I recall it being a Chamber of Commerce with also MTO offices there. Hunting, fishing licenses also available. They moved out. In 2017 the town offered up the station for sale and it sold for just over $100,000 I understand. Not bad for 2900 sq ft in a solid building such as this. The station was designated architecturally and historically significant in 1983; so the exterior of the building is not to be altered no matter who takes it over. The buyer in 2017 was going to develop a banquet facility there, I heard; but nothing happened. In 2019 a business called "Rainbow Sound" (music and instruments) was going to be open by the fall of that year, but again, nothing happened. I guess a 'cheap' purchase isn't that cheap after all if there is no money coming in at said property. Last I saw of it, Oct 2020; it was empty and for lease. Beautiful structure, and has held up very well since its' construction back in 1932.

  1. Would be nice if ex CN Parry Sound looked as good today…as of September 15, 2020 the Town of Parry Sound had the vacant station available For Rent….

  2. Make an interesting house.
