I'm appreciating the "D" derail post in this image. For otherwise, even the guys who hang out at Copetown by the mill might not catch on immediately that this is where the photo was taken many years ago. CN 2007 and 2009 a pair of MLW C-630Ms head westbound in this cloudy day shot past what is almost a barren landscape compared to what is there today.  Note the long gone MoW shack on the right, and the Hwy 52 overpass in the extreme background.

  1. Another winner AW. I was lucky enough to have operated those big MLW’s before they were retired. Things sure have changed. There is a golf course north of the train today.

  2. Is this the exact same spot as the feed mill? If so, those trees grew quick!

  4. Great D for Detail shot here Mr. M. I wouldn’t have recognised this as Copetown. What was the small building to the right; the Copetown station?
    The train holds interest too.
    It might just be the light but one windshield looks to be missing.
    The single 40 foot pig trailer and the open autoracks are equipment long gone from railways. By the 80′s most TOFC equipment was 45 footers and of course the vandals forced the railways and car companies to use the enclosed auto carriers we see today.

  5. Thanks. Light hit the windshield just so. Looks almost clear. The small building on the right was a utility building for various Maintenance of Way storage, I assume. I am standing roughly where the long demolished station was.

  6. Looks like British imports on the open air autoracks??
