I was watching the CN crew pick up the blue gon out of AltaSteel (rusty red building in the background) and then get a light to come north towards me. Just as they head north this CP truck drives up and becomes part of the scene. You just cannot believe how things work out sometimes.

  1. Super cool pic Seth! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Your welcome.
A scene usually found at sidings or grade crossings, not diamonds. :-)

  3. Good match of CP/CN albeit not a CP train but good shot anyways!

  4. Having a tough time thinking of an instance where CP units or train would be within the bond/interlocking for a photo. This one was, see CN units, get ready to take their photo at the diamond, from out of the left a truck drives up, makes your day. :-)
    Thanks Brad.

  5. Very neat, I used to travel to ALTASTEEL regularly, and it is nice to see this scene…well done

  6. A relative worked on the melt floor there back when it was Stelco. Had on some very cool tours through the plant. Thanks Mr. Klaucker. :-)

  7. In 2002 our company put in the Grinding Rod Quench and Temper line at ALTA, this is to heat treat the rods that are ultimately used to crush ore in giant mills (many of them in the Minnesota Iron range). It was still STELCO then, the plant has had a few owners since, were part of the MOLY-COP Group (who has a Ball Mill plant in Kamloops) but spun out maybe 1 year back… small world, thanks for sharing
