Caption: I took this shot a couple of week's before seeing Jason Noe's shot of 7031 at Stelco's No. 2 Rod Mill appear on Facebook, and we both realized he and I could try for an unintentional time machine entry. The trains are in roughly the same spot, though much of the area has changed in the 24+ years since Jason's shot. All evidence of the Rod Mill is gone, save for the guard shack visible in both shots.
When the Rod Mill was closed, the land was purchased by the Hamilton Port Authority and the building was torn down but the rail left in place. The Port then turned the area into an industrial Park and now Yellowline Asphalt, Crawford Rail Products, and Parkland Terminals all utilize rail service there. In this particular shot, CN is switching our Parkland Terminals.
One thing that hasn't changed in the 24+ years between the two shots, is that a 7000 series GP9RM is shoving both trains, which I think adds a bit to this before and after.

Very cool modern shot of the area Jamie! It’s certainly interesting to see how it has changed over time. It’s neat that 7000 series GP9RM’s are now going back down there once again. Thanks for all the background information on the area too.
The gratitude for the background info is owed to an individual other than myself, who was kind enough to answer some questions I had about the area back in March.
I should have added that the grain bins in background are at the G3 facility in the Eastport area.
Guard Shack or Scale House? ‘Before and After’ are by far my favourite images. Well done!
