This is pretty amazing, it’s in half decent shape too.
I expected this to be a “vintage” photo of yours! Great find.
I bet the “holes” are not actually holes, but where something adhesive holding Christmas lights on pulled off the paint when removed. if you look closely the same marks are along the roof line, stripes, and frame. It looks like some sort of fancy swirl above the “BC”.
Do a Google image search for “2017 Christmas Train backing down the Sangudo” My guess was indeed correct!

There is also at least one left in the two tone green scheme. It was being used on worktrains in Alberta earlier this year, not sure where it is now.
I snapped BCOL 1879 at the CN Work Equipment repair facility yard in Transcona, MB back in September of 2007. It had been relegated to Engineering service at that time. I’ll try to post it shortly.
