Caption: I so enjoyed a visit to Dundas and to this day really miss the place. Of course the station is long gone but in the last few years authorities have tightened up on parking and hiking and the area is getting to be pretty well inaccessible, much to my dismay. The plan is, of course, to get everyone to pay to park in the area. Either that, or walk a considerable distance. Back in the carefree days, so to speak, we see VIA 6528 and an unidentified B unit coming in for a stop in the early morning with an eastbound train. I gather the little kids are not to fond of the noise!!!! I was called out and offered a ride to Bayview by the engineer, but declined as I had no idea who was at Bayview who could drive me back up to Dundas and my car.
Those were the days..........

It appears that the station wasn’t far off from demolition in this photo. It looks pretty run down and unused. Sad the location was so far from downtown or it may have weathered the years better.
Ya, it was around a few more years, Marcus. There was an attempt to save it, but many things fell into play against the plan and it was eventually lost. Fire in 1984, and then attempting to salvage it for moving in 1987 a wall collapsed. So it was demolished. Too bad, it was a great ‘prop’ for us guys.

Another great shot AW! I remember stopping here many times. Trains that stopped here were never on the schedule. This was a “flag stop” If you saw a passenger waving you down. You stopped and picked them up and you sold them a ticket onboard. Oh the good old days
Ummmmmmmm………… I don’t recall a station stop at Bayview?! Sooooooo…………. one would have to hop off on the fly? Seems like a young man’s pursuit!
Engineer said he had ‘orders’ to stop at the signal at the Jct. Probably traffic on the Oakville.

Yeah, you kinda did, Mr. Engineer You must be pre-occupied with the Snake. I mentioned in my CAPTION that I was offered a ride from Dundas down to Bayview where I had to detrain but I had no ride back to Dundas….even if the Snake was there, probably sunning his belly on the hood of his crappy old car back then:o) Stuart wondered how I was getting off, and I remember the engineer telling me he would be stopping.
AWM….ah…I would have to negotiate a fee but back then..whenever you were wondering around outside of your vehicle..you growled allot..with a scowl look….cussing about the weather…cussing about the lack of trains…cussing about having to pay this………ohhhh….
If I was allowed in there I would STILL be cussing about the lack of trains.
Ok I finally clued in to what you were talking about AW. Retirement lol or semi retirement has dulled my brain.
Of course you should have taken that train ride mister. Those opportunities don;t come along every day.

ngineered4u – I would presume you are referring to the 80s, et al, when Arnold took the photo. Before that of course there were 4 regularly scheduled trains with timetable stops at Dundas.
