Caption: I remember this scene well as I was just breaking in that new blue 1976 Mercury Cougar (I think it was RP'r "snakes" favourite car :o)back then) and it had only about 1000 miles on it. The Jordan station, seldom photographed except for when Steam special 6060 rolled by, was on its last days already. It was up on wheels and moving to its new home a few hundred feet south by May of 1976. It still serves to this day as a beautiful residence, complete with name sign. Most photographers in the area preferred to shoot trains going over the Jordan harbour bridge, about 1/2 mile to the west. Anyway, I drove in hoping to get those Budds en-route to Niagara perhaps stopping at the station, but it was no go. They literally flew by, and you can see I did not have the camera set high enough to freeze the motion.

I enjoy this very much. Where is the station now? I will seek it out next spring on a visit to my parents nearby.
Wow great shot! I go through Jordan all the time on my train and have never seen a station close to Jordan. As Steve asked, where abouts is the station now.
Stephen? Phil?? who’s looking at the station??? That car was immortalized….I think, and I’m almost sure….it’s on display beside the Freeman Station in Burlington
The main street of the village runs parallel to the tracks, the station is on the other side plainly visible to passers-by, and it has been gorgeously maintained by the owners. You cannot miss it.
PS ‘snake’: That car held on until 1994, and it was probably recycled as razor blades long used.
I will have to look out for the station next time i take a train over the level crossing
If you can detect where the old entrance road to the station was, (a circular path) the station was moved down that entrance road and across the street maybe 50 ft to the east and across the parallel road. I am thinking you might be able to spot it between houses that are on the close side. The building is slid in lengthwise as the lot is small. Nice “Jordan” name sign visible. A brick building up by the road next to it will make it difficult to spot while you are running eastward though.

It’s halfway between the Post Office and Martha Street on the south side. In Google street view it is barely visible as the trees were in full leaf.
Love the old day liners. Reminds me of missed opportunities from when I was a 10 year old living in Stratford….by then of course VIA Rail had already been created….but they were using the day liners on that subdivision for quite sometime. At that age…I only got one shot at the station of an old CN engine…will have to post here soon….but looking back on those day liners. …what a missed opportunity!!!

Mr. Mooney, it’s the slightly blurred RDC front end that conveys the feeling of speed ! Very well done, and a great picture of both the station and the RDC’s. Sounds like this beautiful station has outlived the RDC’s. A law school friend of mine, Hugh Paisley, used to regale us by imitating his mother who at least once a month used to “totter along” to this station and board the train for a day visit to Toronto. His parents had retired to Jordan and in the 1960’s she regularly visited her friends in “To-rawnna, Tranna, next stop, all out” (as CN trainmen would bellow out after leaving the Sunnyside stop). Hugh said she was the only passenger that got on and off at Jordan. I think she was ensuring that Jordan remained an operational flag stop. Not many of us remember when Jordan station was a going concern. I hope you have seen it at its new location a few hundred feet away. It is a beautiful home.
Great capture Arnold! The RDC’s caught my eye first but I was quickly drawn to your Cougar! Beauty! – Ken
