I remember this as a blistering hot day as I wandered the area on the day of the OVR summer picnic. Besides the special bringing the employees this far out from North Bay on a train ride, it was nice to see a few CP freights along a line which has now been removed east of here, and the CP freights are no more. The high summer sun (noonish) made this image difficult with all that shadow on the station. Power on this eastbound is CP 5989 and 9008. I'm wondering if and when this old building was razed. Anyone know?

  1. Nice. Station is still standing as of a couple months ago. Very rough shape.

  2. Thanks, Jacob. I kept hearing rumors it was going to be leveled and never did hear if it all became fact. Probably beyond rescuing now though.

  3. Sad to hear of the removal of this line….as well as another station likely to be demolished soon. They would make great houses.

Reminds me of photos and a time I’d sit on the front porch, and watch trains go by in Carleton Place at our friends house. One night I sat out there for hours one night, and back then would see the passenger trains still led by CP F units! And of course, the familiar noise of numerous freight trains led mostly by SD40′S. Lost photos, but those memories….

….appreciate you sharing these Arnold! Another stellar photo.

  4. Great photo Arnold.
