Caption: I remember a trip to Carleton Place in the late 80's / early 90's and I made my family stop at the Havelock station so I could use the washroom! I took a photo then...train included, and I remember it clearly - but unfortunately through the years I lost that photo.
Once a major divisional point on the CPR, the Havelock station has seen many changes over the years, including at one point abandonment. However, it survived, and now houses the Station Restaurant, as well as a Mr. Sub franchise upon my last drive by in 2010. I love this picture, because not only does it show the traditional name board that was hand painted, but a retro looking CPR themed sign for the Station Restaurant. But besides the signage, there is the architecture.
Beautifully restored.
And the divisional point? Well, the yards are fairly intact, although sometimes not as full as it once was. But the Kawartha Lakes Rwy. still calls in town.
