I must confess the GP9 was my favourite GMD model. Its a good thing too, because back in the 70's the CN facility in Fort Erie was loaded with them. And I liked them as old plain black with the white noodle. This pair, CN 4600 and 4601, sitting near the office........were just a couple of examples of what must have been at least 20 of them based there. CN 4600 eventually became 4009 in the early 90s after rebuild; retired 2007, as did 4601 in becoming 4101 and retired 2001.

  3. And someday down the road someone will look at the 7000 series with the same appreciation.

  4. I already do. I chase them out when I can too and have quite a collection of them. Much I’m saving for later.
