I honestly have not been to the old landmark Robin Hood elevator since the early years of Trillium Railway. Back then it was pretty much off limits and I knew little about the public trail close by. The last time I was here the train was powered by an Alco C425. This day so many years later former Seaboard Coast Line SW1500 4009, now GMTX 340 was called to work the industries around town. Set out mainly to photograph what I could of the huge elevator, I was happy to see it once again up and running now owned by Ceres. Long ago giving up flour shipments for grain. As luck would have it several minutes after arriving at the elevator, a horn could be heard not to far away. Soon the end cab switcher arrived, dropped off one new hopper before leaving as light power. The unit can be seen here making its way through the weeds after locking the gate and heading back to the main.

  1. Excellent work on this rail scene photo.

  2. Great composition

  3. Great pic. Really captures the essence of short line railroads.
FYI I think the unit is actually an ex CST MP15AC 4009. You can tell by the lack of big front radiator fans and the lower air intakes made famous by the SD40/45T-2′s

  4. Thanks everyone! It should have started as SCL then to CSX from what I read
