I have forgotten why a Conrail-powered train was out of TH&B Aberdeen Yard in Hamilton on this particular day, running at a time (1030 am)not all that common with the railroad; I wondered if it was a Toronto-bound "Starlight". CR 7431, 5820 and 3819, probably Canadian Division locomotives, power this train. Note the trailing unit does not have a cab. (I had seen this loco on transfers at Fort Erie the odd time as well back then.) There were 76 cars, CP van 434062 on the tail and a smattering of surprised railfans around as well.

  1. Hmm, a GP9B, quite an odd thing to show up since IIRC those were American assigned units. It also looks like the frame is a bit bowed upward, but the power-short PC probably didn’t care and left it to run into the Conrail era.

  2. A “pure” Conrail set on the Oakville Sub? That would have been a real find. Thumbs up on this one Arnold.

  3. Probably a late “Kinnear” (FT1)…As for the GP9B, I remember shooting them a number of times in Hamilton on the Starlight (so they did make it up here occasionally).
