I believe that this is the train coming in from the Westlock Sub. It might have been #418 - at least that is what it was several years later. It may also simply have been a grain train from the Westlock Sub - the giveaway is the lightweight power.
It is one of the very few shorts that I have of F units in freight service.
On this occasion, there was another railfan beside me recording the scene on video. I commented that the lighting sucked before I realized that he was recording. Encounters with other railfans were very rare for me, and I was not up on the etiquette. So, if that guy ever reads this, I apologize again.
The going away shot has better light.

  1. Only on CN at that time………..could this be possible

  2. There is a Joni Mitchell song that sums it all up, but did we listen? Nnnnooooo, we were interested in that new shiny locomotive that might get us published in the magazines.

  3. I heard from the videographer in question and it appears that I can sleep soundly at night. He doesn’t have it out for me ;-)
I am amazed that I was able to connect with this guy after so many years.
