Hillcrest Lumber Company 9 is a standard-gauge two-truck "Climax" steam locomotive built in 1915. It operated for half a dozen different lumber companies, eventually being acquired by the British Columbia Forest Museum Park from Hillcrest Lumber in 1965.

The Climax design is a geared steam locomotive featuring two angled side cylinders that power driveshafts underneath leading to the front and rear trucks. Geared steam locomotives like the Climax and Shay designs were better suited for the steep grades and curves found on logging operations than standard steam locomotives.
