Here is an image of the old CN station at Merritton, taken on a mid-winter's afternoon. It was used at this time as a section house and local crews office area (track car shed on close end) as it was at the junction of the CN Grimsby Sub and the Thorold Sub. A small yard where St. Catharines locals worked out of can be seen in behind. Two engines were based there.
The station met its' untimely demise on October 23, 1994 when the structure succumbed to flames. Arson was the cause and I am not sure if the culprits were ever apprehended.
