Having just walked in the door and drinking my coffee, on comes the scanner with a clearance to Hamilton's Desjardins. I hear 6017 so I took off for Guelph Junction. For better sun angle I go to one of my favourite spots on the First Line. Around the bend comes SD40-2, 6017 with GP20C-ECO 2285 with the conductor standing on the nose hauling the ballast train. My week has been made.

  1. Lucky duck!! Nice catch again!!

  2. Are those expressway flatcars?

  3. BTW This train is a ‘managers’ special from the Milton Expressway Terminal, to Aberdeen Yard wye (Hamilton) and return.

  4. 6017 still going strong :) nice catch Bill !

  5. The end few cars are ballast cars. This train has been a regular for a few weeks but usually had just been ballast cars. It seems to have different power up and down the hill. Today, 6017 returned a couple hours later northbound.

  6. Possibly the last CP SD40-2 in the lead. Great work!

  7. Jacob there are a fair number (a dozen?) in service across the system, leading on a daily basis. Its a resurgence for sure, and still rare but I have a good feeling 2017 will have more opportunities for a SD40-2 in the lead on cp.

  8. Paint is super faded but she still looks great

  9. What in the…

  10. This photo has aged well. As have cp’s growing in service sd fleet.
