Unlike Canadian parent CN that preferred using steam generator cars when using GP and RS hood units on passenger trains, the GTW purchased a handful of GP9's specially equipped with steam generators, water tanks and rooftop-mounted air tanks for passenger service, and numbered them in their 4900-series.

I was too young to remember any of that stuff.

“YES. Re the coal car Thomson Lumber Co. sold household coal (lots of coal was used for heating homes in those days.”
