Caption: Got fooled by this one. Saw the string of head end power coming around the bend while at the station taking pictures. Backed up abut as far as I could go and thought I had all the units, 5 of them, in the shot. But no, there was a 6th, CN 4521 that didn't quite fit in the photo.
This Toronto to North Bay train was very late in the day, the shadows lengthening quickly. So nice set of GP40-2s up front; CN 9426, 9619, 9654, 9447 and 9603.
Currently the VIA station is up for rent. It sits empty.
None of the GP40s remain on the CN roster. It is surprising that after 40 years only 9619 is officially retired. The 9426 is now RLK 3029, 9654 is Central Michigan 9712, 9447 went to Alstom in 2001 and 9603 went to the DMVW in 2002.

No problem cutting off that last unit. You have that nice station and cool old light standard to cement home a great photo.
Yep a very nice spot to shoot some trains indeed! Too bad that nowadays, getting them good photos composed in good sunlight is pretty tuff being that this subdivision only sees about 3-4 movements a week now but we’ll definitely be bound for the win ourselves on one day or another!
Great photo Arnold and thanks for posting! This was before the Brock st rd and crossing were added correct?
@Railfan99: Brock St was little or nothing back at this time. I don’t know when the “improvements” were made.
