Caption: GE shovelnose unit WPY 91 and WPY 97 are coupled onto their train at Fraser BC for the trip south to Skagway. Departure is just minutes away.
For a number of years the water tank in the lineside building was out of service - current status unknown - but Bernard Lake is nearby.
While at Fraser I heard the howl of another re-engined White Pass Route train approaching and waited for it. The sound faded away, that train was never seen. Much later I discovered that there is a turning loop a short way south of Fraser BC, just out of sight. On busy days, when more trains arrive at White Pass Summit than there is track to hold them, one or more continue to this loop to turn. The loop is also near essential for their steam engine hauled trains. Unfortunately Google maps only shows the south end of the WP&YR.
