FWDX 0002, a Tractive Power Corporation TP70, is shown on the Southern Ontario Railway on the way to Stelco for testing. Stelco is looking for a replacement for their remaining GMDD switchers, and I guess their Republic RX500s aren't cutting it. The TP70 is a smaller cousin to the TP90 that operates at American Iron & Metal (AIM) in Hamilton, ON.

  1. First thing that came to mind when I saw this image was, “Good Grief”.
Nope. Never seen one of these before……….

  2. Anyone curious about the republic rx5000

    https://mobile.twitter.com/republicloco/status/1141339451039371265

  3. Excellent re-purpose of an HT-C truck. :-)

  4. I’m also hoping these also don’t cut mustard and the GMDD’s can stick around longer :)

But better than a track mobile.. that Trackmobile Atlas at Stelco Hamilton is sore looking…

  5. So Gents, this unit and possibly more are coming to replace the EMD’s..

Stelco Hamilton just removed their last 2 EMD’s (89 and 84) and are now sold to LDS (6089, 6084, respectively)

It’s informed the Nanticoke units will follow, but we’ll see…
