Until CN got better with turning power back at the border and stricter requirements for lead locomotives to be equipped with CN crew amenities, lots of goodies made their way into Canada on CN freights, some often leading. This became known as FPON, or "Foreign Power in ONtaro", and there was always the potential for something new or neat trackside. Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific were by far the most popular two, although other roads' power showed up as well. February 2007 finds this photographer trackside to catch a pair of matching BNSF pumpkins as sole power on CN freight 390 through Brampton. The lead unit, GP50 3124, had been repainted with the new "Powerbar" lettering a little over a year ago, but still shone in the afternoon winter's sun.
