I imagine this was quite the catch in the day. How many were there for it?
To me this would be about as rare as that ACR 105 leading the Test Train in 2016, except the ACR train went all over gods green earth and was photographed by hundreds.
You could have been the only one for these D&H beauties.
This shot would have made your day.
I was the only one around for this. Thats what it was like without todays style of instant communication.
Great paint scheme, great locomotives. I can’t believe how many times I turned up my nose at old ALCO’s and run of the mill GG1′s in my youth!
…so what is D & H transfer doing on the Fort Erie Wye?
( this is the wye that the F.E. Diesel Shop is in the centre ? ( more or less )
Fort Erie wye was the east end of the CN Dunnville Subdivison ? later the F.E. spur to Horton steel….
great catch!
Thanks. Yes, this is the wye….off to Dunnville at one time. Out of sight on the right is the signpost “Fort Erie South”.
Oh, as far as it being on the Wye; well sometimes they ran them that way; backed the train around the wye and into the yard, dropped the train, picked up US traffic and off they went. Not very often. I have seen C&O power doing the same on occasion.
