Caption: For those who like full frontal views, here's a platform side shot of the former CN station, now VIA/Parks Canada building in beautiful downtown Churchill, MB. A pleasant mid-summer breeze has the Canadian flag stretched out nicely for the photo, and the old baggage dolly on the platform is a reminder of how luggage was once moved about prior to pickup trucks becoming the new normal. It won't be long before some repairs and a fresh coat of paint will be required on this stately old building, but it looks absolutely wonderful in the bright sunshine and super blue sky background on this early evening of August 2, 2022.

Paul, great view of the station, first time I have been able to see a full front view of this beautiful historic station, and pleased that Parks Canada is making use of space inside which hopefully result in the Federal government helping in maintaining the building in good shape. Interesting comment regarding the use of a pick up truck with respect to loading/unloading baggage/express from the passenger train baggage car . Do you have a picture of the truck on the platform by the baggage car ? Thank you very much for all the station pictures. John
Good morning John. Thanks for your nice comment. Yes, I took several photos of a variety of pickups and vans pulled up next to the baggage/crew car on the Churchill station platform to load/offload baggage from VIA 692 & 693, but I’m not sure they would be acceptable shots for the RP site. I have quite a few other station shots at Churchill and other locations from the journey all the way from Winnipeg & return but I want to be cautious in ‘not wearing out my welcome’ on the site. ????
Paul, am sure your Churchill trip pictures will always be welcome on railpictures.ca, very few railway photographers make the trip to Churchill, so for me and others interested in this line and its destination your pictures are a treat, and am sure at least one picture of pick up/vans on the platform by the baggage/crew car would be appreciated . John
I’ve picked out several shots that I will submit and hope that one sticks. ????
These pictures are excellent. Most people would not have the opportunity to travel this line. Just curious how many pictures did you take?? Bruce
Hi Bruce. Thanks for that kind compliment. In total I took over 2,100 photos on my 7 day trip from Winnipeg to Churchill & return. 38 with a Sony point & shoot, 319 with my iPhone, and 1,770 with my Nikon D7200. After deleting blurry other really poor images I am left with 1,801 of which 1,444 are from the Nikon. All the recent trip photos submitted to RP are from the Nikon. I bought the D7200 as a retirement gift for myself 5 years ago. My skills are in railroading and not photography. The camera and lens get all the credit for the photos I have been posting.
