Caption: For a few months back in 1988, the CN leased five Bessemer & Lake Erie SD9s. They were numbered 825, 827, 829, 841 and 843. Only a couple of times was I able to catch any of them, and of course they were trailing units. Heading to Fort Erie on train #431 are B&LE 841 and 825 behind CN 9636 about to cross over Ontario St in Grimsby. The classic station pictured burned down in an electrical fire on New Year's Eve, the last day of 1994. When CN no longer had use for the building; it became part of "Grimsby Depot", a commercial venture that supported the station as a restaurant and some boxcars as 'shops'. It failed. Good idea, but off the tourist route. The restaurant held on though, under several names, right to the end. At the time of this photo, it was "Railhouse" restaurant. A waiting room for passengers riding "The Budds" was maintained.
I was lucky for some high clouds. A shot at this angle mid-day is almost directly into the sun.
