Even in 1978, the crossing protections on Penn Central's Canada Division were unique. So, please forgive the somewhat distant train--I wanted to make sure that I caught the "wig-wag" in the photo! Detroit-Buffalo train 64, the "Niagara Rainbow" somewhere east of St. Thomas behind a former Milwaukee Road E9. (Can anyone out there properly identify the location?)

  1. Nice. Neat scene with the swinging banjos.

  2. I can’t identify the location, but it looks like the same place as this shot: http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=22281

  3. What a great photo of the wig-wags with their original “Railway Crossing” crossbucks in place. Although I didn’t spend a lot of time on the Caso Sub., in reviewing some of my Signal Plans for wig-wag locations east of St. Thomas and looking at Google Street View I’m thinking this photo may have been taken at Edgeware (Road) Line (42.796396, -81.051755), Mile 108.14 Caso Sub..

  4. I love this John. I shot a pair of wigwags in 2006 but didn’t think to compose it like this at the time. I was amateur :)
