Living in land locked Alberta, this is scene that you will not see everyday. Or any day. A Fav from me. I’m also curious about the restaurant. I bet they serve good food, they will have hungry men looking for a hearty lunch to last them the rest of work day.
Neat winter scene at Goderich. Lots to see in this image. The Frontenac and CSL Tadoussac are in winter lay-up but there’s lots of maintenance activity going on. The CSL Tadoussac is getting a fresh coat of CSL red to cover the old grey scheme. Thanks for sharing, Arnold.
Goderich is known as “Canada’s Prettiest Town” although it faces some stiff competition along the Huron shores. And the restaurant in the lower left was a favourite of mine for fish ‘n chips. It has been awhile since I have been there, but I seem to recall they leaned heavily toward fish on the menu and it was GOOD.
Nice.
Only thing missing is a plane in the air – then we’d have the trifecta: trains, and boats, and planes (sing-a-long).
I love “busy” shots like this with lots happening.
Haha…thanks, Joe……..I was thinking the same song when I looked over the photo. And I was looking (and hoping) there would at least be a Cessna in there somewhere.
I remember when Tadoussac was launched. She was built in Collingwood Shipyard and unfortunatly launched herself early killing two and injuring many others. In the (then) small town of Collingwood it was a tragedy. The accident resulted in many changes in the way lakers were side launched making it much safer. Side launches were spectacular and always brought out the crowds, including all of us who skipped class to go watch
Most interesting bit of information. Thanks for this. Quite the event !!
