During construction of the Churchill grain elevator, 0-4-0 #8 pushes what appears to be a stationary boiler under a tarp. Judging by the number of workers around, there must be a problem. The large steel frame is for the conveyor from the elevator out to the pier for loading boats. The travelling crane erecting the frame has a pair of booms and has a boiler in the corner. Photo taken by my grandfather from the roof of the powerhouse with editing assistance from the moderators.

    The government took over the construction of the line from Canadian Northern in 1910. It was probably a public works project under the the Department of Railways and Canals
