Caption: During 1994, CN had acquired 24 SD40-2’s from Union Pacific, that were originally numbered UP 4090-4102, B4103, 4104, 4106-4114. CN quickly temporarily renumbered them by changing the first number to a ‘6 from 4’ to cycle them into service. These units were seen all over the CN network that year and eventually became CN 5364-5387 by 1995 after being remanufactured at AMF in Montreal. Here is a link to a great photo of a pair of the former UP SD40-2’s on opposite trains taken by Arnold Mooney. HERE Here CN train 238 with 9307, a renumbered former UP SD40-2 and a CN GP40-2L(W) are seen heading towards the former Snake Road walk bridge (now named Beth Jacob Court) on the Oakville Subdivision, just east of Bayview Junction.

Yes I agree Arnold. I don’t think these were as common in the lead even by 1994 as I seem to recall.
