Doo, Doo, Doo, Lookin' out my back door ????
Prior to VIA 692 The Hudson Bay departing Churchill, MB the evening of September 19, 2024 I snapped this pic through the rear door window and vestibule of VIA 8224 Chateau Roberval sleeping car.
The Churchill grain silos and elevator still stand vacant, waiting a decision on their future use at this deep water port.
The station track has been nicely rehabbed with new ties, new rail, and a lift, level, line and tamp.

  1. Great image from a not too often utilized perspective. Nicely done!!!

  2. Agreed. A very clever effort. I don’t hold you much hope for Churchill though. And I hope the decision regarding the grain shipping is NOT to leave the town out to dry.

  3. Thanks to my brother Terry for this very timely article on the potential future use of the railway infrastructure in Churchill …

  4. Quit the article. Thanks, Terry.
I thought the line east of CN Crane was used for car storage, and only ran a few miles.

  5. My grandfather worked on the elevator construction. https://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=28833

  6. Thanks for linking us back to that photo Eric. The grain elevator and silos are massive structures sitting seaside at the Port of Churchill. Seeing them up close and personnel is an amazing sight.
