Caption: DEVCO Railway 216, a GMD GP38-2, is pictured at their Glace Bay shops partially framed by an old steel wedge plow parked nearby. This unit was part of an order of four units, 216-219, built at GMD London in May-June 1979, and delivered together in early July.
This order was unique in that owner DEVCO (Cape Breton Development Corp) specified these four units be equipped with 575 volt, 1000 kilowatt generators inside them to cover for emergency power outages. The electrical plugs for outputting 3-phase electrical power are visible on the right side of the short hood. The unit survives today as NBSR 2317.
