Caption: CN GP40-2L(W) units 9401 and 9410 bracket GTW GP40-2 6409 on a Laser intermodal train, working the north end of CN's Brampton Intermodal Terminal at Queen Street (Highway 7) in Brampton.
Surrounding the terminal is farmland, once all part of rural Chinguacousy Township before the satellite city of Bramalea was envisioned in the late 1950's to build up a new suburban enclave northwest of Toronto and east of Brampton. Residential neighbourhoods and industrial areas sprung up throughout the 60's and 70's, and in 1979 the new Brampton Intermodal Terminal opened on the east end of what is now amalgamated Brampton. The surrounding area has since been developed and built up so much that CN can't expand BIT further, and has been looking to nearby Milton to build another intermodal terminal.
