Caption: Deadheading on Bloor to Keele Subway Station, TTC PCC 4383 heads west from Dundas Street to enter service on the last day of the "Bloor Shuttle" streetcar service. The Bloor and Danforth streetcar shuttles essentially operated as temporary extensions of the subway line, between the opening of the original B-D subway (from Keele to Woodbine) on February 26th 1966, until the opening of the extensions on either end to Islington and Warden stations on May 11th 1968. The Bloor shuttle operated between Keele subway station's temporary streetcar loop to Jane loop (Jane & Bloor). The next day the subway extensions would open and regular streetcars on Bloor would be a thing of the past. A large group of PCC's would be out of work, with many of the older cars (40/41/4200-series) sold to Alexandria Egypt and loaded for shipment overseas two months later.
Other notable points in this photo include the Toastmaster sign on top of the old Canada Bread factory near the NE corner of Dundas and Bloor, Bishop Morocco SS under construction at the SE corner, and one of those 60's Ford Econoline vans.

Driving those old ‘land yachts’ (formerly known as large cars), we certainly carried around a lot of excess metal for many a mile back then.
Arnold, I guess that’s why everyone wanted big-block V8′s
