Caption: CP sent a pair of CLC H16-44's (8715 and 8716) east in 1972 to work with the Speno rail grinding train (the two were specially equipped with pace-setter equipment to maintain a constant speed while the train was grinding). Here's 8716 with the rail grinding train on the Galt Sub at Thamesford. Note the hose man riding the front of loco, whose job it was to eliminate any fires, burning embers, etc after grinding. A water hose runs from him along the flanks of the unit, to the tank car behind.
