Caption: CP Rail bay-window caboose 437267 (or "van" in CP parlance) is pictured sporting the then-modern action yellow livery at Lambton Yard in Toronto. CP built three of these steel bay-window cabooses in 1948 (437265, 437266 & 437267) but the idea never caught on with CP, and further cabooses were built with offset and centre-set cupolas. The three bay-window orphans spent much of their lives in local and transfer service, and 437266 has been preserved in Okotoks AB.
Also notice how short the body is in height, even compared to one of CP's old "minibox" boxcars it's coupled to (an interesting feature is that minibox is one equipped with a small "lumber door" at the A-end, for the old practice of loading/unloading lumber piece-by-piece by hand out the end of the car).

CN had something similar when the built the “transfer”van in the 70′s out of boxcars.
