Caption: CP 4226 and 4246 at "the end of the line" - Owen Sound ON, the northernmost part of Canadian Pacific's Owen Sound Sub line from Streetsville to Owen Sound. MLW C424's were common road power on the Owen Sound Sub, Orangeville Sub and neighbouring lines, having been converted from DRF (Diesel Road Freight) or DRS (Diesel Road Switcher) units with the addition of rear lighting, numberboards, pilots. Note the reversed radiator grill section on trailing 4246, resulting in an odd-looking multimark.
The last train out of Owen Sound was on October 31st 1995, and CP abandoned and removed the entire line between Owen Sound and Orangeville not too long after (this section was originally built by the Toronto, Grey & Bruce). When the remaining section from Orangeville to Streetsville (originally built by the Credit Railway) was threatened, the line was purchased from the CPR by the town of Orangeville for continued operation in 2000.

Nice pic Bill at Owen sound. The grain elevator in the back round is now owned by parrishandheimbecker and is still active but doesn’t do near the business it use to at one time. The house in the back round is the office slash probing shack and there are some old photos one the wall of what Owen sound was like in later years.
