76 long cars back in 1973 = roughly 150 plus car lengths …quite long for that era.

Steve – Perhaps I have the name slightly incorrect, it may have been Oshawa OBICO Detroit. But regardless, the Oakville Ford traffic would be brought to Obico and lifted by this train. It’s been about 20 years since CP had switching jobs based at CN Oakville Yard, and slightly less than 20 years since CP operated any sort of roadswitcher on the Oakville Sub. for local business.
CP had had an overnight Oakville Ford turn..it used to utilize the Canadian’s power…many a morning it would be stuck eastbound in Clarkson yard waiting for GO traffic to subside circa early 70′s at Clarkson Road.
All I can say Bruce is, “Yeow!!!!”…..
The Oakville Ford traffic got lifted at Obico, I’d say usually out of the south service track down to the 427….either way Stephen it’s an “O” !

OOD was Oshawa Oakville Detroit, but empty multilevels are an oddity on that train. That train usually ran as a van hop from Toronto yard to Lambton where it lifted cars brought in by locals off the Oakville Sub as well as cars brought over by the Agincourt transfer from Toronto Yard. Most traffic on that train was hi cube boxcars and loaded multilevels. The empties were usually on 903, “Makeup” 903, 957 or Extra Wests.
